Meet Coach Devrinn Paul

From wiping down floors to coaching from the front of the bench; my journey started with no title, no spotlight, and no shortcuts.

I began as a student manager at Kentucky State University (KYSU), driven by a hunger to learn, serve, and grow. Special Thank You to my uncle, former MBB Head Coach at KYSU for the opportunity to serve. That same work ethic took me to the University of Louisville, where I became a Graduate Assistant and experienced the highest levels of collegiate success; two Final Fours and two National Championship appearances. I was later promoted to Video Coordinator after earning my master’s degree, and it was in those moments I began to understand that championship culture starts behind the scenes—with preparation, humility, and leadership.

My next stop was Marshall University, where I stepped into a new challenge as an assistant coach, helping rebuild a program while learning how to recruit, develop talent, and elevate team chemistry.

Then life shifted. I got married and moved to New York, where I became a certified educator and spent five years teaching full-time—mentoring students in the classroom while launching a basketball training business with my wife, a Hall of Fame player in her own right. That experience led to a love for teaching, structure, and personal growth. We built our business—and our life—on one principle: Trust the Grind.

Later, I returned to college coaching thanks to one of my mentors Michelle Clark-Heard, joining the staff at the University of Cincinnati as an assistant coach. Today, I serve as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, leading a high-academic program rooted in discipline, culture, and personal development.

Outside the gym, I’m also a certified life coach working with private clients, coaches, and teams across the country. Whether it’s helping a program build stronger culture, guiding a leader through clarity and mindset shifts, or supporting a young athlete's development—I coach beyond the court.

Intentional Focus

This was a pivotal moment in my journey, serving as an assistant coach at the University of Cincinnati. I learned the power of intentional leadership.

Every timeout. Every possession. Every opportunity to lead mattered.

That mindset still drives me today!
